Scorecard · Baseline 15 October 2026
Our own AI visibility, measured.
We sell AI visibility, so we should be able to show ours. A fixed set of questions, asked again on a schedule, published whether they move or not.
The trackerWhere we stand
- 1/8Questions checked. The rest get their first check at launch.
- 0Mentions of Slate. Our site was a holding page at the time.
- 5Agencies named instead: Go Fish Digital, Siege Media, Tinuiti, Charle, Kern Media.
- NovNext check: all eight questions, ChatGPT and Perplexity.
Eight questions a buyer might ask.
Worded the way an ecommerce founder would ask. The wording never changes between checks, so the months can be compared.

How we check: each question is asked once per tool, logged out, from the United States, and the full answer is kept on file. The first question was asked on 15 October 2026 at about 3:20 PM Eastern. It went in the same message as an unrelated luggage question left in the box from an earlier test; ChatGPT answered the two separately, and only the agency answer is recorded. AI answers vary between asks, so one check is a data point, not a verdict.
What ChatGPT says to ask an agency.
Its answer ended with five things to ask before hiring anyone. Fair questions. Here’s our honest answer to each.
- 01
AI visibility audits
“Which prompts make competitors appear in ChatGPT and Perplexity while your brand is absent?”
YesA free 15-minute audit, live, on one product and the questions your customers ask.
- 02
Ecommerce implementation
“Will they improve product pages, structured data, product feeds, reviews, and crawler access?”
YesWe write, design and ship the page changes ourselves. That’s the part most reports skip.
- 03
Third-party authority
“How will they earn relevant editorial mentions and citations?”
PartlyWe write buying guides worth citing and identify listing corrections. We don’t run PR campaigns.
- 04
Measurement
“Will they track brand mentions, citation share, product recommendations, referral traffic, and conversions?”
YesA fixed question set, repeated on a schedule, with weekly updates. This page is the method, applied to us.
- 05
Evidence
“Can they show ecommerce case studies with documented before-and-after results?”
Not yetThis scorecard is our first before-and-after, run on ourselves. Client results get published only with permission.
The playbook, run on ourselves.
The fixes we’d make on a client’s store, made on setinslate.com before the first re-check.
- 01
Services stated in plain text.
Every page says what we do, for whom, and how, in words a crawler can read without running scripts.
- 02
Structured data on every page.
Organization details, founders, location and contact, plus question-and-answer markup wherever a page answers questions.
- 03
A machine-readable summary.
An llms.txt file describing Slate and its pages for AI tools that look for one.
- 04
Crawlers let in by name.
robots.txt allows OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot explicitly, so the search crawlers aren’t guessing.
- 05
Sourced notes worth citing.
A journal of short, sourced notes on AI answers, ads and product pages.
- 06
A public baseline.
This page, including the questions where we’re not named. We’ll update it whether or not the numbers move.
